Review: Entwined with You( Crossfire #3)

The worldwide phenomenon continues as Eva and Gideon face the demons of their pasts, and accept the consequences of their obsessive desires…

From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside–so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.

No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.

Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession. ( Source: Goodreads)

My review

I am going to keep my review short. As many of you know by now, Entwined with You is the third installment of Sylvia Day’s Crossfire series. This book picks up right where the last one left off. To be completely honest, I had really high expectations for this book because I really loved Reflected in You. ( I think that is why I was disappointed)  The first few chapters did keep me entertained but after that I felt like nothing  was really happening. Nothing gripping happened, they would either argue about something or have sex. This book basically explains what happened in the previous book and why certain characters did certain things. Some exciting events do occur but most of the time I found myself turning the pages hoping for something more interesting to happen.  The characters themselves have each grown a lot, which was nice to read. I guess my main complaint is how obsessed they are with each other. It was okay in the first two books but after a while it gets really annoying. Like I said earlier, I am keeping this review short. Over all thoughts: I was disappointed, I was hoping to feel more emotionally connected with the characters like I did in the first two books. As much as I enjoy reading sex scenes, I would of enjoyed it more if this book was focused more on the characters and their struggles. I love romantic novels, but there’s only so much sex and arguing that can happen before the reader gets completely bored.

Rating: 2/5. I heard there is a fourth book coming out in this series, I look forward to reading it. The first two books were amazing, if you have read them, read this one as well.

Let me know what you guys thought of this book. Which book is your favorite?

Book review: Reflected in You- Sylvia Day

13596809 Reflected in You is the sequel to Bared to You from Crossfire series.

“Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn’t stay away. I didn’t want to. He was my addiction… my every desire… mine.

My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We’d never work. It was too hard, too painful… except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity.

We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession…”

My review

I didn’t just like this book, I loved it. If you enjoyed Bared to You then you will definitely love Reflected in You. This book picks up right where the first book left off.

I found this book to be a better read than  Bared to You,  the author does a great job of explaining some of the issues that had bothered me in the first book. One of them being how Gideon became so successful at the age of 28. ( I still sometimes doubt it)

Every book has it’s faults, both Gideon and Eva to me were way too needy. I found their relationship to bee a bit obsessive and sometimes unhealthy. Gideon’s over “protectiveness” and Eva’s insecurity definitely made this book an interesting and emotional read. Reading through the first couple of chapters, I found Gideon’s obsessive nature and Eva’s behavior immature. The second half of the book  was more interesting to read.

Sylvia Day does a great job describing each character with great detail. You can feel the passion they have towards each other and the need to always be together. After getting though the first part of this book, I could not stop reading it. As unhealthy as their relationship sounds, you can’t help but root for them. Right when you think they have overcome their problems, your wrong. Their past always has a way of catching up to them. Like usual, I don’t want to give away to much, that’s why my reviews are short. I want you guys to experience this for yourselves.

I really did enjoy this book, if you are ready for a emotional roller coaster ride, buckle up, make your favorite drink and read on!

I got the fever for books

There are a few books that I am looking forward to buying once I get my Christmas shopping out of the way. One of them will not be released until February of 2013.

In no particular order, here are the books that I’m looking forward to purchasing 🙂

– Entwined by Sylvia day
– Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks
– Beautiful Bastard by Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings under the pen name Christina Lauren. (Release date February 13th)
– Divergent by Veronica Roth

Book review: Bared to You

BaredtoYou-200x300Hi everyone,

Today’s book review will be on  a book by Sylvia Day called Bared to You. Price: $11.99 CAD at Walmart

Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness…

He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…

Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds… and desires.

The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn’t tear us apart…

My review:

When I first read the synopsis of this book, I thought to myself ” Great another 50 shades copycat” I was never a really big fan of that series, so when I went searching for a book to read, I was hoping to find a romance novel without all the kinks. ” Never judge a book by it’s cover” That is exactly what I did when I first came across this novel, but since I was determined to buy a book that day, I bought it anyways in hopes that I was wrong about my assumptions.

Bared to You is is narrated in first person by one of the main characters Eva Tramell. Eva moves to New York in hopes to start her career  as a executive assistant at a advertising firm. Joining her in New York city, is her hilarious bi sexual best friend Cary. Eva and Cary are roommates living is a luxurious apartment in Manhattan courtesy of Evas step father.

During her first weekend living in New York, Eva decides to visit her new work place at Crossfire in order to get a feel for the place that she will soon be working at. While helping a woman who dropped her belongings, Eva bumps into the man that soon will win over her heart. Gideon Cross, is a self made millionaire who owns all sorts of businesses throughout Manhattan.

With out giving too much a way, this novel is a roller coaster full of emotions. Early on in the book you learn that both Eva and Gideon experienced traumatizing ordeals during their younger years. Those experiences cause a lot of problems for them. Eva from the get go is attracted to Gideon, who can blame her? Gideon is the CEO of his  own company and he is only 28. His wealth is not the reason she is attracted to him though, Eva herself comes from a wealthy family. Her step father is a high powered millionaire. I found this aspect interesting because in most romantic novels, one character is wealthy and the other isn’t. There was a lot more to this book than I expected, the author does a great job is describing all the characters which in the end made this book a good read.

Final thoughts.

I enjoyed reading this book, as similar as it was to the  50 Shades series, I feel that this book had more to offer besides sex. Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of that in this book but not as much. What I found the most interesting is the troubles that each of them experienced and how they dealt with it. If you are looking for a light read, this is the book for you. I know this is not a lengthy review, I want you guys to form your own opinions.

If you have read this book, let me know what you thought of it without spoiling it 🙂
