I have some exciting news to share with you guys. I am not sure if I have mentioned it before, but from time to time I like to write when I am feeling a certain way. Whether it be a poem or a short story, I like to express myself through writing. I have always claimed that I am not the best writer, I do this to help improve my writing. I do not consider myself a professional by any means. I just enjoy writing. Now on to the good news. A couple of years ago I decided to write a short story based loosely on my life. I use the term “loosely” because not all the events written in my short story are true. Even though I started this short story a couple of weeks a go, it is still not finished. After writing two chapters I decided to put it on hold. Things like college and work got in the way leaving me with no time to actually sit down and write. A couple of weeks ago I decided to continue with my short story, I had to find my old notes and get the hang of things while figuring out what direction I wanted to take this story. I have written one paragraph since then and now I kind of what to share it with you guys. I know I will receive a lot of negative feedback but hopefully some of it will be good. I am all for constructive criticism. As I mentioned before, I am not a professional writer, this to me is simply a hobby. It is a way for me to share some of my experiences. Most of what I talk about happened almost three years a go so at this point I am filling in the gaps by adding what I think happened, it may not be exactly how it happened, but it is close enough.
I want to publish my first chapter in my next post ( I need to edit it before I do so) but in the meantime, here is the synopsis:
Sofia is a 24 year old sheltered Islamic woman who is finally ready to step out of her shell to find love. Will outside influences from her strict Muslim mother destroy her chances of finding a relationship? Join Sofia on her unconventional journey to find happiness and most of all love. Ups and downs, Sofia is now realizing it might not be as easy as she thought, right when she was about to give up, he came along. Carson, 21, handsome, white and definitely not Muslim. What will she do?
This is not the official synopsis, I wrote a short one to give you guys a idea of what this short story is about. Let me know what your thoughts are so far. Thanks for stopping by!
